Tea Recommendation: I was sipping on my Red Raspberry Leaf tea while reading the Enchantress Undercover.
Cons:
- Too slow of romantic build up. Some people like it but I felt like I was being teased without having any reason to be. Because it the romance and flirting was so light.
- The plot has been done before. Magical girl + Fall for the “Enemy” = Defeat villain together. However , there was a sub plot that changed my view on the unoriginal plot.
- That I have to wait for the next installment!
Pros:
- The magical system A.C. Spahn has creating is absolutely amazing and enchanting! Enchantress is the highest on the magical spectrum then there is Seekers then Normals. Seekers have been enchanted by an Enchantress and also they have Voids which magic doesn’t effect them. So naturally they are the enemy. Here’s an explanation of what an Enchantress does when she enchants something:
“..target, a channel, and a focus. The focus shapes the nature of the enchantment, the target receives it, and the channel binds them together.”
- I love the friendship between Adrienne and her co-worker Kendall. Also Kendall really brings the book to life with her quirky self & how aggressively sassy she is with the Voids.
- The writing style is beautifully written. It really had me captured. Especially whenever any of the enchanting was happening!
“Magic swirled around me, burrowing under my fingernails and scratching in my ears. It was chaotic, unfocused, not concentrated like normal raw magic. I had to release it, now. I yanked my necklace off, activated its enchantment, and quickly tied it in a knot. I set it in the dirt next to the grass, then pulled out a strand of my own hair and laid it connecting the necklace and the edge of the field. Be a knot, I chanted. Bind what is within. Entangle, twist, snag.”
- This was a faced paced read! It really never slowed to a complete stop. There was always something new to learn, a plot twist, or even some very entertaining dialogue.
- There is some diverse chatacters! 😍 Adrienne is Columbian. There’s some Hispanics from Mexico mixed in too.
- The setting takes place in San Francisco. The author really did a great job at describing & capturing the essence of the place.
Rating & Recommendation:
So, I rated this 5 stars because of how engrossed I was with it. I’d dream about it when I go to sleep so that qualifies for a round of applause👏👏 & a 5 star rating. I recommend to anyone who loves urban fantasy, witches, magical/paranormal, and fun fast paced beginning of a new series!
